They are clearly affordable, and contain a decent amount of product. The lipsticks contain 4 g of products, which I think is generous or at least above average (from what I can tell from my collection, where the average amount of product in a new lipstick is 3,7 g). In Norway they cost 88 NOK, wich would be 11 USD (with the current rates when this blog post was published). The lipsticks cost 6 USD (on ) wich would be 48 NOK. It’s difficult for me to “know” the price of American drugstore items, because I have to buy them online (or I did, NYX was not available in Norway when I bought them, so I got them on Ebay). They are not super-matte, like the Sleek True Colour Matte Lipsticks, which are the most matte traditional lipsticks I have tried (but then again they are not as comfortable and easy to apply).
I think they last a decent amount of time (at least if you don’t eat messy food). They don’t feel waxy, they are matte without feeling dry. Generally speaking though, the lipsticks are opaque, smooth, and apply wihtout dragging. I also think it has a more glossy finish than the others (from the swatch photo it also looks like it has some micro glitter, but I can’t remember having noticed that before. Aria is not as opaque as the others, and it stains more than the other dark shades. Application and wearĪlthough they are all matte, they are not all similar in formula.
Natural is slightly more pink, and Whipped Caviar is slighly more brown/nude. Just from looking at the pictures I think it’s very hard to see the difference between Natural and Whipped Caviar. Top left to right: Bloody Mary, Merlot, Whipped Caviar and Natural.īot left to right: Aria, Siren, Alabama and Eden. I threw it away anyway, after taking pictures of the swathces. I think that that particular lipstick might have been older than the rest when I bought them, and that that is the reason for the packaging differences, OR that it could be a fake (and therefore might have had a lower quality formula that went bad faster)? But then again, why would anyone make fakes of such an affordable brand… Idk. Sidenote: I had not realized this before now, but the text is slightly larger on Alabama (third from the left), and when I sniff tested them I think it had gone off. I haven’t had any issues with the caps cracking, falling off or anything like that. I think it is ok, it’s not the most beautiful packaging ever, but it’s functional and the lipsticks twist up smoothly. The packaging is black, and see-through in the middle. I thought I’d share some swathces, and some more of my thoughts on the lipsticks. These lipstick have one of mye favourite formulas, and they’re pretty affordable too.
